Team HistoryFounded in 1878 by railway workers of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company, the club was originally named Newton Heath LYR Football Club. On April 24, 1902, it was renamed Manchester United Football Club. On April 22, 2014, the club officially announced the sacking of David Moyes, with Ryan Giggs appointed as the interim head coach. In the FA Cup final of the 2015/16 season, the team defeated Crystal Palace 2-1 after extra time, claiming the 12th FA Cup title in the club's history. During the 2016/17 season, José Mourinho took office as the head coach of Manchester United. On May 2, 2021, Manchester United fans stormed Old Trafford to protest against the Glazer family, forcing the postponement of the team's match against Liverpool. In December 2023, the INEOS Group led by Jim Ratcliffe acquired a 25% stake in Manchester United for £1.25 billion. In August 2025, the team won the 2025 Premier League Summer Series title.  Team AchievementThe club has won a total of 20 English top-flight league titles, 3 UEFA Champions League titles, 13 FA Cup titles, and many other honors. It became the first English team to win the UEFA Champions League in the 1967/68 season, the first team in Europe's Top Five Leagues to claim the treble in a single season in the 1998/99 season, and the team with the most English top-flight league titles in the 2010/11 season.
