UK media have reported on Tottenham Hotspur’s recent turmoil both on and off the pitch. According to reports, Tottenham have suffered six consecutive defeats for the first time in their 144-year history. They currently sit just one point above the Premier League relegation zone, and their chances of reaching the Champions League quarter-finals are slim after a humiliating 5-2 loss to Atlético Madrid in midweek.

The report states that Tottenham players look lost, lack confidence, and are unable to stop the situation from spiralling further out of control. Supporters have low expectations for Sunday’s match against Liverpool, though a positive display could at least help the team regain some momentum. Tottenham clearly need their underperforming senior players to step up.
However, Cristian Romero has been sent off multiple times, criticised the club on social media earlier this year, and could miss the game through injury sustained in midweek. Micky van de Ven was sent off against Crystal Palace, triggering a chaotic seven-minute spell in which Spurs conceded three goals. The Dutch defender then made a reckless foul on Hložek against Atlético Madrid but avoided a second successive red card. He will be suspended against Liverpool.
Among other senior players, Guglielmo Vicario has been inconsistent, Pedro Porro looks frustrated, while James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski have not played a single minute this season due to long-term knee injuries.
Tottenham also face off-field issues. As The Athletic reported last month, there were time-management problems during Ange Postecoglou’s tenure.
The pressure of this historically poor season is clearly visible on the squad. Some players determined to turn the tide have expressed frustration with the attitude of certain teammates, whom they believe lack motivation to help the club.
Journalists have even learned that one player told his teammates he is not overly worried about relegation, as he believes he will be able to leave Tottenham in the summer.
Tottenham are in disarray and need to find leadership from somewhere, otherwise their season could end in the humiliation of relegation for the first time in 49 years.
