Fabrizio Romano updated his personal channel and talked about whether Real Madrid will attempt to sign Enzo Fernández this summer.

Is Enzo also one of Florentino Pérez’s targets? As you know, there have been numerous discussions and rumours long before the presidential election. What do you think of this possibility?
Fabrizio Romano: I can confirm that Enzo Fernández still secretly regards joining Real Madrid as an option for his future, and this is no longer a secret. We all know he endured a difficult period back in March and April. During a podcast, he said he "wants to live in Madrid one day", which made Chelsea extremely dissatisfied. The club then left him out of the match squad for two or three games.
Though he later returned to the team, the real problem was not that interview. Chelsea and him failed to reach an agreement on a new contract, and the two sides are still nowhere close to a deal to this day. That is why people around Enzo believe Real Madrid is still his dream transfer destination.
For now, Chelsea has remained totally silent on the issue. Real Madrid has not sent any formal offer or made official contact with Chelsea so far. The Spanish club is currently focusing on other players, but there is no doubt that they hold great admiration for Enzo Fernández.
We have to wait and see how Real Madrid’s transfer budget will be arranged. The blockbuster signing announced by Florentino Pérez is expected to cost €150 million or even more. Apart from signing Denzel Dumfries and Ibrahima Konaté, the club intends to sign another defender. Therefore, we need to monitor Real Madrid’s spending on these positions and how much budget will be left for midfield signings.
I am certain that even if Chelsea choose to sell Enzo Fernández this summer, they will not make things easy for any club pursuing him.
