In the 23rd round of the Premier League, Liverpool were beaten 2-3 by Bournemouth with a stoppage-time winner away from home. After the match, Liverpool manager Arne Slot spoke to the media.

On the match
Slot said: “Although we went 0-2 down at one point, the comeback was good. In my opinion, we shouldn’t have been 0-2 down at that stage, but the players reacted really well. We pulled it back to 2-2, and then I thought the game became very open, with both sides having chances.”
“They probably had even more opportunities than we did, which wasn’t entirely a surprise to me. After all, we only played in Marseille two days ago, and in the last four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten games, we’ve barely been able to use the same group of available players. Towards the end of the game, some players were inevitably going to feel fatigued, and I think you could see that in the final stages today.”
On what he said to the referee at full-time
Slot stated: “I think first and foremost we have to look at ourselves. The game was very open, with both sides pushing for goals. In the final 10 minutes, they had better chances than us, and then they scored from a long throw-in.”
“In my view, only 4 minutes of stoppage time wasn’t enough, but in the end it didn’t matter because they’d already scored. Even so, we could have played for another two or three minutes, but this game shouldn’t have had only 4 minutes of added time. There was a free-kick earlier that took two or three minutes, plus VAR checks and substitutions. That’s what I said to the referee – 4 minutes wasn’t enough.”
“We were already down to 10 men, and then they scored their second goal. Apart from the final 10 minutes, that was the only period where we really struggled. But the result is another defeat all the same.”
