Manchester United are now going to have a face-off against Manchester City for their matchweek 22 contest of the 2025-26 English Premier League. This intense Manchester derby will be witnessed at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have now also been eliminated from the FA Cup after their 1-2 defeat against Brighton. They missed out on many chances to score goals, which thus led to their defeat. Michael Carrick has been appointed as the new manager for Manchester United for the remainder of the season and it is interesting to see the club perform under him.
Manchester United will be without the services of Shea Lacey as he is suspended. Matthijs de Ligt is not yet confirmed to be a part of the squad. Noussair Mazraoui is on international duty. While Amad and Mbuemo are back in training after getting knocked out of AFCON.
The Cityzens are coming in after securing an easy win against Newcastle United in their Carabao Cup semifinal first-leg game. They have also defeated the Red Devils once this season already and the Pep Guardiola-led team will be looking to complete a double over them. Despite being away from home, Manchester City will be confident heading into this Manchester derby.
Ruben Dias, Josko Gvardiol, John Stones, Mateo Kovacic, Oscar Bobb and Savinho are not match fit to be part of the squad for Manchester City. Omar Marmoush is on national team duty.

Fresh off disappointing semi-final heartbreaks at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Egypt and Nigeria must go again in Saturday’s third place playoff match in Casablanca.
The Pharaohs fell to a 1-0 loss against Senegal in the last four, while Nigeria took tournament hosts Morocco to penalties in the second semi-final, only to suffer disappointment in the shootout in Rabat.
Under the management of Hossam Hassan, Egypt have been much-improved in the last year or so as the Pharaohs prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and they put in some strong and impressive performances to reach the semi-finals of AFCON.
However, in their semi-final the other day, the Egyptians succumbed to a slender 1-0 defeat to the Senegalese in Tangier, with former Liverpool attacker Sadio Mane scoring the only goal of the game in the 78th minute of the match.
Nigeria, with former Mali boss Eric Chelle at the helm, didn’t qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup but had improved over the course of this year and the star studded Super Eagles were again impressive in this tournament.
However, after further in-fighting, the Nigerians again put in an impressive performance against hosts and pre-tournament favourites Morocco in the semi-finals, eventually succumbing to a penalty shootout loss to the Atlas Lions.
3. Senegal VS Morocco

- Fixture: Africa Cup of Nations
- Kick-off time: 8:00pm, Saturday 18th January 2026

The Senegal national football team are all set to battle it out against the Morocco national football team for the 2025 AFCON final. This high-stakes game between these teams will be played at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah.
Senegal come into this one on the back of a very steady performance in the semi-finals the other day as they defeated Egypt by a goal to nil, courtesy of a 78th minute winner scored by former Liverpool attacker Sadio Mane.
The Lions of Teranga have been one of the strongest teams in Africa for much of the last half a decade or so, having won this competition in 2022 in the same year in which they reached the round of 16 of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
At that FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Morocco became the first African team to reach the semi-finals of the global event and the Atlas Lions are perhaps even better than that, unbeaten in their last 32 FIFA recognised fixtures since an AFCON R16 defeat in 2024.
The Moroccans have eased through most games in this tournament but were perhaps fortunate in their defeat of Nigeria in the semi-finals the other day, requiring a penalty shootout to see off the Super Eagles after 120 goalless minutes.
