The results of the Real Madrid presidential election have been announced. Florentino Pérez beat Enrique Riquelme and won the election for club president.

Right after claiming victory, Florentino Pérez announced José Mourinho’s return to the club on the stage. “I am incredibly proud. We have the world’s best players, and we are equally proud to welcome back José Mourinho, one of the finest coaches in the world. Real Madrid belongs to its members, in the past, at present and in the future.”

Seventy-nine-year-old Florentino Pérez is the incumbent president of Real Madrid. He first led the club between 2000 and 2006, and has served as president ever since winning the election in 2009.

During this election campaign, Florentino Pérez’s camp made a commitment to sign former head coach José Mourinho, defensive stars Ibrahima Konaté and Denzel Dumfries after the election, and complete another high-profile signing for the midfield and attacking positions.
