Fabrizio Romano shared updates on his personal channel regarding Bernardo Silva’s prospective move to Real Madrid. He stated that José Mourinho has specifically requested to sign the Portuguese midfielder, who will join the club on reduced wages.

Fabrizio Romano: Bernardo Silva is HWG to join Real Madrid. This is arguably one of the fastest signings of a big-name player by a top club that I can recall. Normally, transfers involving star players, renowned agents and major clubs always take a long time to finalise.
Yet Real Madrid have moved at an astonishing pace this time around. Why? They wanted to prevent other clubs from stepping in, poaching the player or causing any unnecessary complications. Real Madrid aimed to rule out all potential surprises. Another key factor is José Mourinho. As I mentioned before, he held a lengthy meeting with the club’s senior management in Madrid on Tuesday night and made it clear that Bernardo Silva is exactly the type of player they need.
Real Madrid decided to grant Mourinho’s wish, leading to the current outcome. Bernardo Silva’s move to Real Madrid has been sealed in a lightning-fast 36 hours. The club has offered him a two-year contract, which likely includes an option for a further one-year extension.
Bernardo Silva has accepted the salary terms put forward by Real Madrid, meaning he will earn less than he did during his time at Manchester City. Talks over the midfielder have been ongoing for the past three to four weeks. Barcelona were first linked with him and seriously explored a potential deal.
Many followers on my channel previously claimed that Bernardo Silva had completed and signed a contract with Barcelona, but I kept telling everyone the deal was not yet done. Multiple reports later claimed the transfer to Barcelona was finalised, which was never the case. Atlético Madrid also chased the player right until the very end and tabled a better offer than Barcelona, but Bernardo Silva ultimately chose Real Madrid.
The 31-year-old player earned a weekly wage of £300,000 while playing for Manchester City.
