In an interview with the media, Egyptian national team director Ibrahim Hassan talked about Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah's future, advising him not to move to Major League Soccer (MLS) after leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, believing that this choice might cause the forward to fade from public view.

The 33-year-old Salah has not yet decided on his next destination. He has just concluded a brilliant nine-year career at Liverpool, during which he won two Premier League titles and one UEFA Champions League trophy. MLS Commissioner Don Garber stated that he would love to see Salah in the league, but is unsure if any team will attempt to sign him.
"Personally, I would prefer him to stay in Europe," Ibrahim Hassan said in an interview with On Sports. “I have heard that Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, and some Serie A clubs are interested in him. Moving to MLS? That would take him too far from the spotlight. People will no longer remember Salah, just like I don't pay much attention to Lionel Messi now—I don't even watch him play anymore.”
The Argentine captain joined Inter Miami CF in 2023 after playing for Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, just a few months after winning the World Cup. Since then, he has become the club's all-time leading scorer.
Hassan said that if Salah chooses not to stay in Europe, the Saudi Pro League would be a suitable destination. "If he doesn't receive offers from Europe, then moving to the Saudi League would be a good choice, especially with superstars like Cristiano Ronaldo there," Hassan added.
Egypt will play a friendly match against Spain in Barcelona this Tuesday, after defeating Saudi Arabia 4-0 in Jeddah last Friday. The seven-time Africa Cup of Nations champions are in Group G of the World Cup alongside Belgium, New Zealand, and Iran. The tournament will be held from June 11 to July 19.
