Juventus is stepping up its efforts to sign Randal Kolo Muani on a deadline-day loan from Tottenham Hotspur.

Kolo Muani was involved in a car crash on the M25 motorway on Tuesday, but fortunately escaped uninjured. He is currently on loan at Tottenham from Paris Saint-Germain, yet has been plagued by injuries and failed to score a single goal in the Premier League so far.His only two goals this season both came in the UEFA Champions League, against his parent club Paris Saint-Germain.

Thomas Frank has made it clear that he cannot afford to lose any more players this month, due to injury absences and UEFA eligibility restrictions. However, Tottenham would be open to signing a new forward if they can find an upgrade for their attacking line.

Tottenham have been searching for a player to fill the left forward vacancy, but Frank has adjusted the team’s formation in the last two matches, opting for a system with full-backs and two attacking midfielders instead of traditional wingers.

With the transfer deadline fast approaching, Jean-Philippe Mateta, the unsettled striker at Crystal Palace, has emerged as a target in the transfer market.

Juventus is among a host of clubs interested in Mateta, and the player himself has openly expressed his desire to leave Crystal Palace.

For Tottenham, Mateta would bring clinical finishing and strong aerial ability, and could share the central forward attacking duties with Dominic Solanke. This would allow Mathys Tel, who is yet to prove himself as a pure striker, to compete for a central forward or winger spot with Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons, provided Frank alters the team’s formation again.

Dušan Vlahović is sidelined with injury until March and is expected to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season. Loïs Openda has scored just two goals since joining on loan from RB Leipzig.

The 27-year-old Randal Kolo Muani joined Juventus on loan from Paris Saint-Germain at the end of last season, making 16 Serie A appearances and scoring 8 goals.
