Brazil national team arrived at Newark Airport in New Jersey, United States on Tuesday morning to officially start their World Cup preparation. Shortly after the plane landed, Carlo Ancelotti accepted a short interview with local media.

Reporter: What expectations do you hold for Brazil at this upcoming World Cup?
Carlo Ancelotti: Expectations are always huge, aren’t they? The desire to win and realise our dreams. I believe this positive mindset belongs not only to me but also to all 210 million people across Brazil. So expectations remain very high. We are fully aware of the tough journey ahead, yet we chase the championship with great aspirations.
Reporter: Is Brazil labelled as the biggest tournament favourite for this World Cup?
Carlo Ancelotti: We are not the top favourite. Undoubtedly, we have solid strength, a well-structured squad with experienced core players plus outstanding young talents, and I think this squad makeup works perfectly for us.
Reporter: How will Brazil tackle other strong national teams?
Carlo Ancelotti: We compete head-on against rivals, strive to deliver our best and train earnestly. From my point of view, there is no definitive outright favourite for the ongoing World Cup. Plenty of teams feature formidable strength, and Brazil will compete against every single competing side.
Reporter: What mentality is the whole squad keeping right now?
Carlo Ancelotti: We step into the competition as chasing contenders, and I see this as a major positive factor. I’m convinced we will launch aggressive performances, and with good fortune, we can enjoy an excellent World Cup campaign.
We are overjoyed, fulfilled and highly motivated at the moment. I’m thrilled to give my absolute best. We will hold our first training session today, then spend three days completing pre-match drills and fitness tests ahead of our friendly against Egypt before wrapping up final preparations for our opening World Cup fixture.
Brazil’s World Cup opening match is set for June 14 against Morocco at MetLife Stadium in New York.
