The future of Netherlands national team head coach Ronald Koeman remains uncertain, and he could step down after the World Cup. Koeman discussed these topics in an interview.

Koeman said: “We will be at the World Cup. If we fail to meet our targets, such as not reaching the semi-finals, that would be a reason for the Dutch FA to consider a change of coach. Our goal is to win the World Cup. Nigel de Jong (Technical Director of the Dutch FA) has not said that we will part ways if we fail to achieve the target. We are competing to win the tournament, and we will see what the outcome is afterwards.”

“If the Dutch FA decides to replace me after the World Cup, I will accept it. If I feel from the group of players that the collaboration is no longer working well, I will also offer my resignation. Even if the Dutch FA decides to let me go, I still feel a strong bond with the players and can give my all to fight for a good result at the World Cup. Besides, I do not believe this understanding will disappear because of my departure.”

“I no longer have the ambition to be a club coach, but managing the national team fits my vision for this stage of life. I still enjoy working with top players, but not on a daily basis.”
