A Liverpool correspondent has reported that vice-captain Andy Robertson appeared to bid farewell to the Reds’ fans after his side’s 2-3 defeat to Bournemouth.

He wrote on social media: “Robertson finally walked over to the away end, head down, slowly across the pitch, and seemed to wave gently. If this really was his farewell game in a Liverpool shirt – and the possibility is high – it’s a sad way for such a legendary player, who epitomized the Reds’ spirit over the past decade, to sign off.”
Robertson’s contract with Liverpool expires this summer. Tottenham have long been interested in signing him, and a spate of injuries in their squad, combined with a need to add an experienced leader and title-winning player to the dressing room, has accelerated their pursuit.
The two clubs have now opened preliminary talks, with a result expected in the coming days. The 31-year-old Robertson joined Liverpool from Hull City in 2017 for £8 million, one of the most cost-effective signings in the Premier League in recent years. He has made 364 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions, helping the club win two Premier League titles and the Champions League in 2019.
