Borussia Dortmund wants to keep Niklas Schlotterbeck and is even willing to add a release clause to his new contract.

Schlotterbeck’s current contract expires in 2027, and media reports point out that Dortmund hopes to sign a new contract with the 26-year-old centre-back. Because if the player does not renew his contract, Dortmund will have to consider selling him this summer.
Dortmund has prepared a highly attractive "super contract" for Schlotterbeck, and is even willing to include a release clause in this long-term deal. Starting from the summer of 2027, other top clubs can sign him by paying a transfer fee of more than 60 million euros.
The salary in the new contract will also be raised significantly, with Schlotterbeck’s annual salary expected to reach about 14 million euros. Schlotterbeck is weighing his options, while Dortmund is speeding up the contract renewal process.
After Dortmund’s match against VfL Wolfsburg, Dortmund’s sporting director Sebastian Kehl spoke about Schlotterbeck’s contract renewal, saying: "I have always advocated for clarity in all things. Sometimes you have to be patient, sometimes you need to make your own decisions, and some situations depend on the other party. But now we have stepped on the gas. Schlotterbeck knows that we hope to get a reply as soon as possible."
