According to Miguel Delaney, journalist from The Independent, Arsenal have secured a breakthrough in negotiations with Vinicius. The two sides have reached a broad agreement on the framework of personal terms, which could pave the way for this blockbuster transfer.

Nevertheless, there is still a long way to go before the deal is finalised. Real Madrid and the player still prefer him to stay at the club.

However, with only one year remaining on Vinicius’ contract, circumstances could push him to join Arsenal. It is understood that the situation is entering a decisive phase, and Vinicius’ future could be settled this week.

There are major disagreements between Real Madrid and Vinicius over a new contract. One key dispute centres on the percentage of image rights, an area where Arsenal are prepared to offer far greater flexibility. Discussions also cover whether a contract matching Vinicius’ stature can be provided.

Vinicius’ camp is pushing for wages comparable to Kylian Mbappé, yet Real Madrid’s offer falls well short of that target. Additionally, after signing players such as Marc Cucurella and the expected arrival of Diomande, Real Madrid need player sales to balance their spending.

Therefore, Real Madrid are unwilling to let Vinicius leave for free next summer. This limits the transfer fee they can demand if they opt to sell, though the figure will still be substantial.

Meanwhile, Arsenal aim to strengthen their attacking options and have set aside a sufficient budget for such a signing. Few targets on the market carry the same elite profile as Vinicius.

Even in this era of unprecedented financial power within the Premier League, genuine global superstars rarely move to the league while in their prime. Plenty of details still need resolving, yet Arsenal’s hierarchy believe developments are moving positively, and Vinicius is open to a switch to Arsenal.

Arsenal are pursuing other transfer targets in parallel, with Julián Álvarez remaining a player of strong interest to them.
