A source close to Al Nassr revealed that Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo – captain of Al Nassr’s first team – has received assurances from the club’s management that the club will take measures to correct mistakes made over a period of time, in a bid to restore stability to the club.
The source also stated that the club’s unpaid wages to staff will be resolved within the next few days.
According to the source, the most important of these assurances is the restoration of administrative and financial powers to Portuguese CEO José Semedo and his compatriot, Sports Director Simão Coutinho.
A comprehensive adjustment of the club’s administrative structure is expected in the next few days, which may include the replacement of Board Chairman Abdullah Al-Majed, as part of a series of measures aimed at easing internal tensions.
The source pointed out that comments made by Al-Majed in a previous media interview about the work of the CEO and the coaching staff (led by head coach Jorge Jesus) have angered Portuguese personnel within the club.
Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to return to the team in Saturday’s 22nd round of the Saudi Pro League against Al-Fateh, after he missed matches against Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad for personal reasons.
The Portuguese legend’s absence stemmed from his dissatisfaction with the limited support the club received during the winter transfer window. This news came after a Saudi sports channel disclosed an administrative decision on December 31: Al
Nassr, through an official email sent to department heads, passed a resolution by majority vote to suspend Portuguese CEO José Semedo, revoke all his financial expenditure powers, and restrict financial approval rights to the Executive Committee approved by the Board of Directors.
Currently, Al Nassr ranks second in the Saudi Pro League standings with 49 points, only 1 point behind leaders Al-Hilal.
