Al Hilal Football Club has formally filed a lawsuit with the Saudi Football Federation, accusing striker Abdullah Al-Hamdan, who has now joined Al Nassr, of breach of contract. The 26-year-old came off the bench for Al Nassr against Al-Ittihad in the highly-anticipated Matchday 21 of the Saudi Pro League, which concluded recently.

Al Hilal submitted complaint documents to the Saudi Football Federation this Thursday. In the lawsuit, the club stated that Al-Hamdan unilaterally terminated his contract with the club without "just cause", and severely condemned the act as a "flagrant violation and malicious circumvention of the league’s existing rules and regulations".

Al-Hamdan’s original contract with Al Hilal was not set to expire until Friday, February 6th. However, prior to that date, Al-Hamdan notified the club via email of his decision to unilaterally terminate the contract.

Late on Monday night, just before the closure of the winter transfer window, Al Nassr officially announced the signing of the 26-year-old Saudi international as a "free agent". Subsequently, Al-Hamdan quickly joined his new club for training on Wednesday.

In the blockbuster match between Al Nassr and Al-Ittihad at Al Nassr’s home ground on Friday night, Al-Hamdan was substituted on in the 90th minute. In the end, Al Nassr won the game 2-0.

Previously, relevant social media accounts had first revealed that Al-Hamdan signed a four-and-a-half-year long-term contract with Al Nassr by unilaterally terminating his contract with Al Hilal. Currently, the Saudi Football Federation has not yet made a final ruling on Al Hilal’s lawsuit.
