Just five days before France’s opening match at the World Cup, Kylian Mbappé sat down for an interview with French television channel M6. Mbappé stated that he would accept a deal where he scores no goals whatsoever if it guarantees the team victory, and he will do everything he can to help France reach the final on July 19.

On the current campaign
"I’m in great physical form and delighted to be with the national team. This is a crucial moment for us. We have sorted out many issues internally and made thorough preparations. We know the road ahead will be tough, but we are ready to compete and strive for a spot in the final."
On physical and mental state for the World Cup
"I’ve experienced tough moments in my previous two World Cup campaigns. Very few players get the chance to take part in this tournament, and it comes with great responsibility. To make history, you have to go through hardships. We have written our story once before, and we aim to do it again. Every team here is chasing its own legacy."
On accepting a title win without scoring
"I would sign that deal right away without hesitation. I’d be the first one celebrating on the Champs-Élysées."
On his third World Cup
"I’m thrilled to be part of this tournament. I try to support the younger players, especially emotionally. Given the quality within this squad, I don’t need to teach my teammates how to play football. What matters most is managing pressure and getting everyone in top shape. Building a united team is never an easy task."
On the World Cup all-time top scorer record
"It feels great to be ranked among the tournament’s greatest scorers, though it’s funny that all the others are much older than me (laughs). I’m fortunate to have reached the latter stages and delivered strong performances in my two previous World Cups. I definitely want to keep making history, but my biggest wish is to bring the World Cup trophy back to France."
On his Paris Saint-Germain teammates
“I congratulated my PSG teammates immediately. It is easier to comfort one teammate who lost the Champions League final than five. What they achieved is remarkable. I know how it feels to suffer defeat in such a decisive game, so we did our best to cheer up
William Saliba. The team atmosphere is positive, and now all our focus is on the World Cup.”
On seeking revenge against Argentina
“No. Even if we win this World Cup, we cannot claim three consecutive titles or rewrite history. They beat us fair and square, and they deserved the victory. Revenge is never on our minds in the locker room. If we cross paths with them again, we will compete to the fullest, but we do not dwell on the past defeat.”
