Official news: Filipe Luís has been relieved of his duties as head coach of Flamengo, shortly after the team’s 8-0 thrashing of Madureira.

Official Statement:
Flamengo announces that as of this Tuesday (3rd), Filipe Luís will no longer serve as first-team head coach. His assistant coach Iván Palanco and fitness coach Diogo Linares will also leave the club.Flamengo thanks the former player and manager for everything achieved during his spell and wishes him success and good luck in his future career.
Filipe Luís has been with Flamengo since 2019. He retired in 2023 and began his managerial career at Flamengo in 2024.
In 99 matches in charge, he recorded 62 wins, 21 draws and 16 defeats, winning 5 trophies: Copa do Brasil (2024), Supercopa do Brasil (2025), Campeonato Carioca (2025), Copa Libertadores (2025) and Campeonato Brasileiro Série A (2025).
According to Brazilian media, despite winning 5 titles, Flamengo failed to claim the Supercopa do Brasil (lost to Corinthians) and Recopa Sudamericana (lost to Lanús) in the new season, which is believed to be the reason for his dismissal.
As a player, Filipe Luís played for Deportivo La Coruña, Chelsea, Atlético Madrid and other European clubs, winning honours including the Premier League and La Liga.
