Prediction: Liverpool Wins

With Chelsea away at Arsenal this weekend, this is a good opportunity for Liverpool to move into the top five. They are in good form at present and keeping it tight at the back. The Reds have an excellent recent record against West Ham and won the reverse fixture 2-0 in November.

West Ham have conceded 15 goals in their last four visits to Anfield. They are still in the bottom three but with a much better chance of survival than a few weeks ago. Our main Liverpool v West Ham prediction is Liverpool wins and more than 2.5 goals.

The last two Premier League games for Liverpool have both produced 1-0 away victories. Wins came at Sunderland and (much to the joy of West Ham) Nottingham Forest. Keeping a couple of clean sheets (and one in the FA Cup) will have pleased them as 35 league goals have been conceded this season.

The Reds have won seven home Premier League games this season. They had gone eight league and cup games unbeaten at Anfield before losing to Manchester City. Since then, they've had a 3-0 home FA Cup victory over Brighton and Hove Albion.

Liverpool have a long injury list at present but did make a huge investment in signing players during last summer. The good news for them is that Florian Wirtz could be fit to play this weekend.

He took to the field for the warm-up at Forest last week but a back injury forced him to miss the actual match.  If he is back, Wirtz will be in the No. 10 role in which he has played so well recently.

Jeremie Frimpong could also make his return this weekend. Cody Gakpo has only scored twice this year and his place in the starting line-up is at risk from Rio Ngumoha or Federico Chiesa. They'll want some goals from Mo Salah too as he's gone nine EPL games without scoring.

West Ham can escape the EPL relegation zone with a win at Anfield but haven't managed to do that since 2015. The Irons have lost nine of their last ten games against Liverpool, drawing the other one in April 2024. Seven of the last eight meetings have seen more than 2.5 goals scored.

The Hammers are unbeaten in their last four league and cup matches. Last week saw them held to a goalless home draw by Bournemouth. On the road, West Ham have won three away league games but lost six. Four of their last six away matches have seen at least three goals scored.

Three of West Ham's next four league games are on the road. The other is a home match against Manchester City so their relegation battle is not going to be easy in the coming weeks. The Hammers are struggling for goals with blanks over 90 minutes in their last two games.

They will be without the suspended Freddie Potts with Pablo Felipe who was signed in January out with a calf injury.

Final Prediction:
