Nottingham Forest have announced that manager Sean Dyche has been sacked. British newspapers have analysed the reasons behind Dyche’s dismissal.

Nottingham Forest were eliminated by Championship side Wrexham in the FA Cup on penalties. British media noted that the club reached the semi-finals under Nuno just last season. One year on, Forest crashed out in the first round, and the huge contrast left players feeling utterly demoralised.
The final straw was Dyche’s explosive post-match comments. Instead of taking responsibility, he directed his anger at his own players, particularly fringe members of the squad.
He publicly criticised: “They showed their true colours today. They won’t have to knock on my door again asking why they’re not playing – I’m talking about the lads who played in the first half.” He even said he would have substituted everyone at half-time if he could, and told players to “look in the mirror” for letting the club badge down.
These destructive blame-shifting remarks caused uproar in the dressing room. Players felt public shaming was outdated in modern football. Key figures were further angered by Dyche taking credit in good times but dumping pressure on players when results went wrong. This lack of leadership sealed his fate.
Rifts had already been growing. After Wednesday night’s draw with Wolves, Dyche appeared to sense his future was in doubt. In the early hours of Thursday, the club confirmed his sacking. From the humiliating FA Cup exit to a total dressing room breakdown, the once-fancied “no-nonsense manager” departed in embarrassing fashion.
