Mikel Arteta stated at the pre-match press conference for the UEFA Champions League fixture against FC Kairat Almaty that he had an open and positive discussion with the players following the loss to Manchester United. The talk was aimed at easing the low morale in the dressing room, and he called on wavering fans to stand with the team and keep their faith.

Although Arsenal still leads the standings in both the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League, the team has gone three consecutive league matches without a victory, and their lead has been narrowed to 4 points. Boos aimed at the team were even heard at the Emirates Stadium during the defeat to Manchester United.
Arteta said: “The team’s response has been outstanding. We took some time to cool the atmosphere, pause, reflect and put forward two questions. The first one was: ‘How do we feel, and how do I feel personally?’”
“The next question was: ‘How will we get through the next four months?’ The meeting was incredibly encouraging and positive, because the conclusions we reached were simple. First and foremost, I told them how excellent they are, and how grateful we are for every day we spend with them. We must make sure we embrace this journey with firm belief, because all of this [winning the Premier League title] will eventually happen. This is our moment, and we crave it deeply. That will be our mindset, and that is where we will focus all our energy.”
Talking about Arsenal fans, Arteta added: “I just hope everyone connected with this club, especially our supporters, will get on board with us, because that is how we will move forward. That is why I encourage them to join in, because this will be an unforgettable experience. When you are chasing a dream that you have pursued for 10 months, the excitement, unwavering belief, energy and willpower are the essential mindset you must have.”
"Because beyond this, countless incredible things will happen. Some of them we cannot even imagine. For me, this is the only way forward, because we will give everything we have."
