Camel has looked back on an interview Varane gave during a program last year, in which he revealed that he felt far more excited celebrating FA Cup or EFL Cup triumphs with Manchester United than winning the UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid.

Varane stated: “Celebrating our EFL Cup or FA Cup victories filled me with greater excitement than lifting the Champions League trophy… It was an incredible feeling! In England, especially in Manchester, you can truly feel the people’s passion for football; it’s a daily way of life.”
“Times have changed, and I have absolutely no regrets about joining Manchester United. It was an extraordinary experience.”
“Why did I leave Real Madrid? After we won the Champions League in 2018, we barely celebrated. It felt like a foregone conclusion, just another step forward. Our mindset was already focused on winning the next Champions League trophy.”
“Then, I claimed the FIFA World Cup that same summer. I was in desperate need of a new challenge.”
The 32-year-old Raphaël Varane announced his retirement from professional football in September 2024.
