Harvey Elliott Not in Liverpool & Villa’s Plans. This season, he joined Aston Villa on loan from Liverpool, but not everyone at Villa wants him to stay. According to the loan terms, the deal will automatically convert to a permanent transfer once the player reaches a specific number of appearances.
However, Villa manager Unai Emery has made it clear that the club has no intention of triggering this clause, while Liverpool boss Arne Slot has also publicly stressed that Elliott is currently a Villa player.
The problem is that Elliott has already featured for two Premier League clubs this season, meaning he is ineligible to play for a third English team. In addition, the player has attracted interest from MLS side Charlotte FC, but it remains uncertain whether he is willing to move to the United States given his career aspirations.
Elliott’s predicament also reflects the challenges Aston Villa is facing in complying with the Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). The agreed-upon permanent transfer fee between the two clubs stands at £35 million, and it is likely that Villa considers this sum unaffordable despite Elliott’s quality as a player.
