Recently, after returning to the Spanish national team, Rodri gave an interview to a radio program, discussing his injury, future prospects, and addressing transfer rumors linking him to Real Madrid.

On His Injury

With several months remaining until the World Cup, Rodri is gradually regaining his best form after recovering from a severe anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Rodri: “If I had to choose a time to get injured, I might choose the exact moment it happened. Resting and slowing down was a good thing for me. I had been carrying a lot of mental pressure before, and this allowed me to recharge and reignite my fighting spirit. I haven’t had as much playing time this season, but I’m back in a more energetic state.

“I decided to take some time off to properly adjust my condition because I knew the crucial phase of the season would start in January. So far, everything has gone smoothly... I feel like I’ve become the Rodri we all expect again.”

Rodri’s national team teammate Daniel Carvajal has also experienced a similar difficult period, which led to him not being selected for this squad. Rodri: “I believe he is now in the final stages of regaining his form and needs to give his all and play more matches. I hope he can be with us—he is a key player.”

On Transfer Rumors with Real Madrid

This season, Rodri’s name has been repeatedly reported as a transfer target for Real Madrid. The Spanish midfielder did not avoid the rumors, stating that he is interested in returning to La Liga in the future but is currently focused on returning to his best form.

Rodri: “I have one year left on my contract with Manchester City; one day we will sit down and have a good talk.”

When asked about the transfer rumors with Real Madrid, Rodri did not rule out the possibility of joining: “I don’t know—they won’t talk directly to me, only to my agent.”

The reporter followed up: “Would having played for Atlético Madrid prevent you from joining Real Madrid?” Rodri replied: “No, no, no—many players have taken this path. For me, you cannot reject the opportunity to play for one of the top clubs in the world.”

Regarding Manchester City’s multiple encounters with Real Madrid and the Ballon d’Or competition with Vinícius Junior, Rodri said: “They want to create a rivalry between us, but I have great admiration for Vinícius Junior.
