Reigning Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain drew 2-2 with Monaco in the second leg of their play-off tie on Wednesday night, progressing to the next round with a 5-4 aggregate score. Under the confirmed format, Paris Saint-Germain will face either Chelsea or Barcelona in the round of 16, with the draw taking place on Friday.

Asked about the possibility of Paris Saint-Germain coming up against his former sides Barcelona or Chelsea in the Champions League knockout stages, Luis Enrique admitted: “Neither opponent will be easy. Since it is not up to me, I will adapt accordingly. Both teams are excellent.”
“Barcelona is very special to me; it has become a classic side in my heart, just like Manchester City and Real Madrid. Barcelona is a unique city, and the club is also special. If we draw Chelsea, we will still have plenty of areas to improve.”
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Luis Enrique stated that PSG’s tough run in the Champions League group stages means his players have adapted to the high pressure of European football.
Luis Enrique pointed out: “We deserved to progress in this tie, and although it was a difficult process, the result was very tight in my opinion – it was a tricky game.”
“Sometimes you lose precision and find it hard to regain your form. We should be happy with what we have achieved and pleased that we have overcome this hurdle.”
“What I can say is that if there is one team that has faced the strongest opponents on average in the previous stages of the Champions League, it is us. We are used to playing against any side.”
“Of course we want to keep advancing, but we will be up against a very strong opponent. Facing either Chelsea or Barcelona will be tough, but if there is one team that is ready, it is us.”
“We must keep the same momentum, and we are prepared to face any team in any competition. It is a special season, and we have many injured players. This is not an excuse, but having a full squad is crucial. There are still three months of matches left, and we remain determined to win.”
