Camel Live compiled statistics on the points and final league positions of Premier League half-season champions (as of December 25th) across various seasons.
In the history of the Premier League, only 17 out of 33 teams that topped the league on Christmas Day ultimately lifted the league trophy. This means the success rate for Christmas Day leaders to win the title is just over 50%, not a determining factor.
Arsenal and Manchester City still have a chance to climb to the top of the standings before Christmas this season.
The last two times the half-season champion went on to win the final title were Liverpool last season and Manchester City in the 2021/22 season, while Arsenal, the half-season champion in the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons, ultimately failed to win the title and finished second.
