The President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that rules will be revised to prevent any repeat of match walkouts.

Senegal temporarily walked off the pitch in protest against refereeing decisions during the Africa Cup of Nations final. This Friday, at the CAF General Assembly, the CAF President confirmed that CAF will amend its statutes and regulations to strengthen the rules and stop such incidents from happening again.

The CAF President stated: “We never want to see the kind of behaviour that occurred at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco again. This will never happen again, and we will not tolerate it. We have zero tolerance for such incidents, and there is no room for negotiation on this.”

“It is essential to impose sanctions proportionate to these violations. We will amend CAF’s internal statutes and match rules to ensure appropriate sanctions and penalties for serious and blatant breaches of our regulations, and to restore the reputation of African football.”
