Ghanaian star Asamoah Gyan recalled the 2010 World Cup incident on Rio Ferdinand’s show, where Luis Suárez used his hand to block Ghana’s shot on goal. Gyan subsequently missed the resulting penalty, and Ghana were ultimately eliminated from the tournament.

Gyan: “I always say that if I were Suárez, I would have done the same thing, because he was trying to save his country. Even though the ball was definitely going in – it was like cheating – at the end of the day, we had our chance and we didn’t take it.”
Gyan: "This sort of thing doesn’t happen most of the time. Sometimes, the odds of this happening are extremely low. So I always say, if I were Suárez and saw that ball heading towards the goal at that crucial moment... He did it to save his country, you know. That’s why I forgive him, I forgive him for doing that."
