Senegal forward Ndiaye gave an interview to The Times recently, talking about Dias’ panenka penalty in the Africa Cup of Nations final.

In the AFCON final between Senegal and Morocco, Dias won a penalty, but his panenka kick was saved, costing his side the trophy.

Ndiaye said: “I don’t know why he tried a panenka. I think it was slightly disrespectful. I’m not saying he meant to disrespect us, but it was either that or he wanted to act like a star after everything that had happened.”

“You’re minutes away from being the king of your country, which hasn’t won the title for so many years (Morocco last lifted the AFCON in 1976), and you just need to score to win it. So I don’t understand why he did that, but I’m glad he did. I think after that, we knew we were going to win.”
